Graduate and professional students are essential to the academic and research excellence of universities nationwide. At Valparaiso University, we celebrate their dedication, perseverance, and meaningful contributions – not only to our campus community but also to their professions and the world beyond. From April 7–11, 2025, Valpo is proud to join institutions across the country in recognizing Graduate-Professional Student Appreciation Week (GPSA Week).

A Tradition of Recognizing Excellence

GPSA Week was established in 1993 by three student leaders – Tony Rosati (Georgetown University), Gina Pearson (American University), and Anne Holt (Florida State University). Their initiative, launched through the National Association of Graduate-Professional Students (NAGPS), sought to highlight the significant impact of graduate and professional students. Today, universities nationwide continue this tradition, acknowledging the dedication and hard work of those pursuing advanced degrees.

Valpo’s Graduate Students: Leaders in Their Fields

Earning an advanced degree requires commitment, resilience, and a drive to make a difference. At Valpo, our graduate students are innovators, researchers, and professionals striving to expand their knowledge and serve their communities. Whether conducting groundbreaking research, shining in their careers, or balancing academic, professional, and personal responsibilities, they exemplify the spirit of leadership and service that defines Valparaiso University.

Join Us in Celebration

We invite the entire Valpo community to take part in celebrating our graduate students during GPSA Week. This is a time to recognize their achievements, express appreciation, and support their continued success. Whether through a simple word of encouragement or active participation in campus events, every gesture of support makes a difference.
